Why Billie Eilish Will Never Discuss Her Sexuality Again

Billie Eilish wasn’t joking about the NDA.
Indeed, the “Birds of a Feather” singer recently detailed why she’ll keep her romantic life private after coming out last year.
“I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or anything about my dating life,” she told Vogue in an article published Oct. 8. “Ever, ever, ever. And I hope that they never will again. And I’m never talking about my sexuality ever again. And I’m never talking about who I’m dating ever again.”
And while Billie has been mostly private in her dating life, her comments come after being extremely candid about her own sexuality in the recent past—which is part of the reason she’s now choosing to keep that part of her life private.
“I guess I also underestimate that things I say will be blown up into the biggest news of the whole world,” the 22-year-old explained. “That’s so unnatural. We’re all babies. We’re all little kids growing up and learning ourselves.”
Indeed, earlier this year, Billie went viral for detailing when she knew she was attracted to women while writing one of her Hit Me Hard and Soft singles, “Lunch,” which is her first song where she explicitly refers to a relationship with a woman.
"I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after," she explained to Rolling Stone in April. “I've been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn't understand—until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina."
Of course, Billie had resisted being so open at first. After rhetorically asking a reporter whether it was “obvious,” that she was attracted to women on a red carpet, she said it hadn’t been her intention to discuss the topic at all.
“I went into Billie Eilish interview mode,” she recalled to Rolling Stone. “‘Oh, I don't care. Yeah, I'll say whatever. Wasn't it obvious?’ And then afterwards I was like, ‘Wait. It wasn't obvious to me.’”
Overall, Billie has emphasized that any discussion of dating or her sexuality has not been brought up on her own volition. As she put it, “It's really frustrating to me that it came up."
